Kendal C vs Kendal B
Kendal C team played host to Kendal B at the start of this month with points and pride at stake.
The first game of the night saw club captain Shayne Holliday lose a closer than it looks on paper game against Ian Garnett, going down 3-0 with the games 12/15, 11/15, 10/15 in Ian’s favour with a fast and furious opener.
Kendal B team looked to Steve Couper to steady the ship as he put up an impressive win over Joel Howse easing to a 3-0 victory with the games 15/4, 15/9, 15/13 with a never say die Joel trying to come back in the third to no avail, levelling the scores on the night to 1 game all.
The third game of the night saw Russ Lilliebridge against team squash newcomer Ben Cook. Ben was quick out the blocks and pulled a gap out in the first game that Russ could not recover. Again in the second game Ben opened up a gap with early winners only to be ground down with Russ squeezing the extra 2 points to level. The final two games fell again to Russell with a 3-1 win overall and games of 10/15, 19/17, 15/11, 15/10 going Russell’s way.
The pivotal game of the night as Kendal C took a 2 games to 1 lead saw Gary Major outpower Owen Haines, a fast pace game giving Owen no chance to settle into a rhythm as Gary ran out an easy winner 3-0 with games 15/13 , 15/8 , 15/11 clinching the team win for Kendal C on the night.
The final game of the evening was a very tight affair between Christian Hoyle and Dave Archer. With only pride left to play for Dave Archer gave his all coming back twice to take it to a 5 setter but Christian just had a bit left in the tank to see off Dave’s impressive challenge, giving the final win to Kendal C 3 – 2 with games of 15/9, 6/15, 15/12, 14/16, 15/8 .
A very enjoyable and entertaining night that saw Kendal C team run out deserved winners 4 games to 1.
Kendal A had the night off, as they had no match this week.
