Kendal Squash Club Box League Rules
1. The box leagues are set with five players per box (although in some cases there may be fewer or more players per box league).
The four matches you are to play should be organised and played within that month.
2. Each match is to be played as best of five games and scored as ‘point-a-rally’ to 15 points.
The points to be marked in the box league are scored as follows:
- 1 point for turning up
- 1 point per game won
- 1 point for the match win
The points are added together to give a single figure total score. For example a 3-0 win scores 5 points for you and 1 point for your opponent.
Three additional bonus points can be claimed if you play all your matches.
If a game is conceded or not played it is marked as 3- 0, with no win or appearance points.
3. All players must arrange their games by mutual consent within that month.
If after the 15th day of the month for the mixed leagues or the first of the month for the ladies league, no match has been agreed by the two players, the player taking the initiative to arrange a match can offer two slots outside of working hours. If no agreement can be made then the responding player must forfeit that month’s match.
Players who fail to turn up for an agreed match must also forfeit that month’s match.
In both instances 5 points can be claimed by the initiating player, but no bonus points will count for all games played that month for these two players.
4. At the end of the month, the top two points scoring players will be promoted and the bottom two relegated, with the remaining one player staying in the same league.
On occasion, promotion will be affected by challenges and players coming back in to leagues.
5. Flying challenges:
A player who plays and wins all their league games in that month can challenge a player up to 5 leagues above the league they have played in that month. If the challenge is successful the winner will move into the position above the loser, when next months leagues are published.
If the challenge is unsuccessful the positions will remain unaltered.
Players who receive challenges must accept them.
Players can only make one challenge per month.
6. If a player fails to play any matches for two months they will be dropped out from the leagues, a failure to play one month is denoted by an asterix against the players name.
7. If you are injured, please mark up so on the box by your name. Also, if you are injured please mark up if you are back the next month.
If you do not mark up back next month you will be dropped from the leagues.
8. Players wishing to join the leagues can add their name and estimated league position to the next available month’s entry sheet and will be added accordingly.
