England Squash have released guidelines for clubs to open in Step 2 of the COVID Spring Recovery plan. The good news is that Kendal will be opening at midday on Monday 12th April. The not-so-good news is that for the time being play will be restricted to members for:
- solo practice
- one-to-one coaching
- same household play
Enhanced health and safety protocols will remain in operation at the club. Booking slots have been extended to 60 minutes. This will allow players to have 45 minutes on court and allow 15 minutes ‘breathing time’ for the court to ventilate before any one else goes on court.
Reinstating membership
Members who want to get back on court can reinstate their membership by contacting the club secretary. In requesting this, they agree to abide by the current regulations. For those who do not wish to play at present, memberships remain suspended until such time as they are ready to resume.
Changing rooms still closed
England Squash guidance says that the use of changing facilities should be minimised. We do have an enhanced cleaning regime in place for the areas of the club that are currently open, but we are not in a position to extend this in the appropriate manner to the changing rooms.
Apologies to those who miss their post-game showers, but we are adopting a risk-averse approach for everyone’s benefit.
Checking in
We are required to keep a log of everyone who comes to the club. To this end we will continue to use a web-cam in the foyer to monitor people entering and leaving the building. This enables the club to fulfill its responsibility without requiring additional paperwork for members.
Hygiene and safety at the club
Please abide by the hygiene rules to keep everyone safe:
- Please book your courts in advance
- DO NOT come to the club if you or anyone in your household feels unwell.
- Bring your own towel, water bottle and first aid kit
- Do not arrive more than 5 minutes early
- Please arrive wearing your squash clothes, so that you are ready to go on court
- Sanitise your hands upon entering the building.
- Take bags and belongings on court with you
- Coaches will maintain social distance during play and will disinfect the ball for each session
- You must stop playing after your allotted time to allow the court to ‘rest’ before the next booking.
- At the end of your game please leave the court and club promptly.
- As you exit, please sanitise your hands and then clean all touch points, most importantly the door handles and surrounding area, using materials provided.
- Please notify the secretary if you fall ill after playing
Any questions about this process or getting back on to court just get in touch.
