Squash Bubbles expand…

By 7th September 2020No Comments

England Squash latest guidelines provide the option to play full games for members who form ’Squash Bubbles’ of up to six members and commit to following the new protocols.

What is a ‘Squash Bubble’?

  • Squash bubbles consist of a maximum of six players from different households.
  • Players within a ’squash bubble’ are permitted to play full-court matches with enhanced hygiene protocols.
  • You can only be part of one squash bubble and these will remain unchanged for two weeks – at which time there will be an opportunity to make changes.

Please send details of your squash bubble to secretary@kendalsquash.com.

Enhanced hygiene protocols for match play

In accordance with England Squash’s latest guidelines, new modifications are required for full court matches between members of the same bubble

  • Only two players on court at one time.
  • Play best of three games.
  • Play first to 11 points, sudden-death at 10-all.
  • Use ‘Sides’ to maintain social distancing throughout the warm-up.
  • During each game, when the first player reaches six points, both players should wipe away excessive sweat, and sanitise their hands and the ball. Repeat between games.
  • The same player to serve / touch the ball during each half of a game, and at the halfway point, switch servers.
  • Protective eyewear or visors are strongly recommended at all times.
  • Don’t wipe your hands on the wall.
  • Players must not shout or raise their voices

Club Hygiene

No change to the rules we have already been following to keep everyone safe:

  1. DO NOT come to the club if you or anyone in your household feels unwell.
  2. Sanitise your hands upon entering the building.
  3. Do not shake hands, and avoid physical contact throughout your session.
  4. You must stop playing after your allotted time to allow the court to ‘rest’ before the next booking.
  5. At the end of your game please leave the court and club promptly.
  6.  As you exit, please sanitise your hands and then clean all touch points, most importantly the door handles and surrounding area.

Any questions about this process or getting back on to court just get in touch.

Changes to court times

In order to allow ‘airing’ time for each court when players finish their game, the booking system is being changed so that each court is available at intervals of one hour. Members should leave the court after 45 minutes at the latest, allowing 15 minutes for the court to air before the next booking. Please collect your belongings and leave the club right away.

We hope that this new easing of restrictions enables members who are keen to play, the opportunity to get back on court. However, for those who are not ready to return, membership will remain suspended until they opt to reinstate it.

Stay safe and enjoy your squash.
