Club Night
The Club encourages members to attend “Club Night” which is every Friday from
6.30pm to around 9.30pm. Court lights are on for the duration and attendees are asked to make a contribution of £1 which should be left in the locked wooden cash box close to the booking kiosk. This is a simple “honesty” based arrangement to ensure the Club’s electricity costs are covered.
The beauty of Club Night is that it is very much social squash. Players from absolute beginners to those of a high standard regularly attend. It’s your chance to play different people and meet new friends and playing partners and because games are restricted to 15 minutes, you can play 6 or more opponents if you’re fit enough! It’s also a great way to learn more about the rules in a less competitive environment.
After the squash is over, many players pop over to VAT’s bar at the Brewery to wind
down and socialise. There have been many legendary Friday nights over there with
great banter and the occasional singalong! Many a good friendship has been forged in the Brewery on the back of Club Night.
